CompRep Sales and Services LLC has built a solid reputation for providing the best training in certification and qualification of PSI trained cylinder inspectors. With the support of PSI/PCI we have trained over hundreds of field technicians in the proper inspection and re-qualification standards required by the DOT and OSHA.
No other program provides the most comprehensive training and hands on experience available to insure your inspectors and fill station operators are properly trained to conduct inspections and fill operation.
PSI, Inc (Professional Scuba Inspectors) was formed in 1982 and is incorporated in Washington State, USA. Affiliate cylinder inspector instructors are located in 10 countries. About 200 hands-on visual inspector workshops, serving over 1200 student are conducted each year. PSI is in its 23rd year, serving the diving (SCUBA), fire fighting (SCBA) and hydro-testing industries.
PSI,Inc. visual inspector workshops exceed the training standards of the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Compressed Gas Association (CGA), and Transport Canada (TC). It meets compliance requirements for U.S. Hazardous Materials Training (high-pressure air and other gases are classified as hazardous materials) required of all employees exposed to the potential hazards of pressurized air).
This certification course teaches the basics of conducting the annual visual inspections of solid wall and composite SCUBA and SCBA cylinders. The 6-8 hour course is well suited to those new to visual inspections as well as those who have been inspecting without formal training, through it wide range of inspection subjects. Including damage limits, neck cracking, corrosion limits, cylinder codes and markings and laws affecting inspectors
Additionally, this course meets the OSHA and DOT requirements for employee HAZEMAT training and attendants completing the course are qualified to conduct HAZEMAT training for cylinder handlers.
Previously certified inspectors may attend this full course under the VCIR (refresher program) for re-qualification as required by DOT (every 3 years). The course is open to anyone 16 years or older and no previous cylinder inspection experience is required. Participants receive certification as Visual Cylinder Inspectors upon course completion.
Eddy Current Technician Course
CompRep Sales and Services LLC through its affiliation with PSI/PCI has offered in conjuntion with its Visual Cylinder Inspection courses, the addition of the Eddy Currrent Technician certification course.
ECT - Eddy Current Service Technician - Eddy Current testing is a powerful addition to visual cylinder inspection however many in the industry continue to use such devices on the wrong cylinders or fail to operate the equipment properly.
This 3 - 4 hour course provides Visual Cylinder Inspectors with the added training to know when and how to conduct a proper Eddy Current Tests of SCUBA and SCBA cylinders in addition to hands on experience with Eddy Current devices.
Attendants are required to be certified by PSI as Visual Cylinder Inspectors and participants receive certification as Eddy Current Service Technician upon course completion.
Fill Station Operators Course
CompRep Sales and Services LLC through its affiliation with PSI/PCI offers the Fill Station Operations course which covers a number of topics associated with operations and maintenance of the fill station and related compressor components.
Businesses who operate cylinder filling stations are required by OSHA to provide training to employees operating filling equipment. Topics include pre-fill inspection, proper techniques, system maintenance, and emergency procedures. While the core material is contained in the PSI publications and student workbooks, we understand each station is unique in size and design. We will customize parts of the program to co-ordinate with the operation of your specific system. Course times vary from 1 - 3 hours. This ensures the operational aspect of your compressor and fill station will be consistent with your specific system and the operators using the system.
SCBAI Cylinder Inspectors Course
PSI Cylinder Inspection Courses provide hands on training in the proper assessment of a cylinder 's condition to be re-qualified for continued service or to be rejected for further service based on additional inspection or testing criteria's or to be removed from service, based on DOT/OSHA/CGA standards. Cylinders used in the Fire Service Industry have different standards than those used in the diving industry.
This course is a tailored version of the VCI course for those inspectors only dealing with Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) cylinders commonly used in fire fighting, emergency response, and other land based environments where the air may be unsafe to breath. As this course only covers SCBA Cylinder Inspection, it is slightly shorter then the full VCI course. Participants receive certification as a SCBA Visual Cylinder Inspector upon course completion.
For the Fire Service industries who may not need the entire PSI course including inspection of SCUBA cylinders, this course is well suited to departments conducting their own internal inpections of their SCBA - (FRP and Composite) cylinders.
Compressor Maintenance
Compressor maintenance is an important aspect in keeping your equipment running at its best and for reducing long term operational costs. In the dive industry compressors are an integral part of the overall operation. Having equipment down during the busy dive season can affect overall sales and charter services.
While compressors for Fire Departments tend to receive less running time than dive operations, they still need to be run and serviced.
Fortunately most problems can be avoided with a regular maintenance service program. Preventive maintenance is the key to keeping equipment running its best and lowering the overall maintenance costs.
CompRep Sales and Services LLC provides all of our customers purchasing new compressors an extensive overview and training on their systems. Additionally we service what we sell so you can be assured your system will receive the proper care and maintenance. Manufacturers warranties for most compressors are generally 1 year.
We take this a step further by offering maintenance service contracts at reasonable costs. We will never try and sell you something you don't need. Each service contract is individual for your particular system and the anticipated usage it will receive.
Since service is one of the many important products we offer, we also service other major brands such as MAKO or Bauer compressors and others. This is important for our customers who are purchasing Nitrox add on systems to their existing high pressure compressors so they can have a complete service provider for all their needs.
We also sell related service supplies such as filters and oils. We are very competitive in this area so check you current pricing on these products and let us provide the opportunity to earn your supplies business as well.
Valve Repair Technician Course
For facilities offering repair services on valves for cylinders this course will provide the inspector the needed training and knowledge to properly overhaul various types of valves.
VRT - Valve Repair Technician - This 3 hour course provides a broad overview of valve types, valve repair and valve care. It is approved by the valve manufacturers. Students will be provided a Certificate of Completion.
Quarterly Air Testing Services
CompRep Sales and Services LLC offers quarterly air testing service for Dive Retailers and Fire Departments involved in compressed air operations. Most state and federal regulations require some type of air testing on quarterly based intervals for breathing gases.
Compliance is verified by the analysis with samples sent to the receiving air lab upon which if the sample passes, a certificate is issued to the facility sending in the sample and they in turn notify their state regulatory body.
We offer quarterly air sampling as one of our services and can also train facilities that may be geographically distant and may become cost prohibitive due to travel expenses, to conduct their sampling and air testing through air analysis labs directly.
For facilities that contract our services on a quarterly schedule we conduct all sampling and record keeping and submission to the state agency. (Currently Florida Only).
This saves you time and allows you concentrate on other aspects of your operation, we set up a schedule and notify you 2 weeks before your test is due. We conduct the sampling and process the paperwork. We notify you immediately if there is a problem with the sample so service can be provided to check your compressor system.
We will send your air quality certificate to you and process the results to the Florida Department of Health. (State Government Regulatory Agency for Florida).
